Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup
At the end of August, the action kicks off at Rådhusplassen in Oslo. 500 players from all over the world will participate in this unique football festival. Would you like to contribute?
Countries from all over the world will participate in the football festival in Oslo from August 23 to 30 this summer, and it is expected that 500 players will compete over eight days during this sports event.
This is the twentieth time the Homeless World Cup is being held, and the second time it takes place in Oslo.
The goal of the tournament is to combat homelessness worldwide, including in Norway.
– We are looking forward to once again hosting the Homeless World Cup in Oslo, says project manager Knut Haugsvær.
He promises a different and international folk festival in Oslo.
– This tournament is both an exhilarating sports event and an opportunity to highlight major societal challenges. We will use this occasion to bring together those who have experienced the exclusion of homelessness and those who have solutions and decisions. We are creating this important occasion together – in the hope of a better future, he emphasizes.

Would you like to be a volunteer during The Homeless World Cup?
We will need hosts and cheer squads, interpreters, help with transportation, food service, cleaning, secretariat operations, and much more. There are tasks enough for everyone.
Register here– The players are our heroes
All over the world, preparations are now starting for the national teams' journey to Oslo. For the players, it is more than just a trip from one city to another – for everyone, it is primarily their own life journey. Together they meet in Oslo – to play street football – and to find lasting good solutions for the future.
– This will be a different and international folk festival in Oslo where the players are our heroes, and they will be lifted up and cheered on by volunteers, the audience, and partners! Knut promises.

Mel Young, president and co-founder of the Homeless World Cup Foundation, says they are looking forward to returning to Oslo in August for the 20th edition of the Street Football World Cup.
– This tournament has been played in some special cities around the world, bringing awareness and understanding to the global challenges we have with homelessness, he emphasizes.
Logo and branding
Young praises the tournament's logo and brand identity, which they are currently presenting to the global HWC family. Karianne Elmholt Tønnesen from the Salvation Army's communications department in Oslo is responsible for the design. Based on the geometric shapes from the football field – which also evoke thoughts of building blocks and a home for everyone – Young says it gives "a fresh look and an eye-catching feel for the event."
– At the end of August, players from all over the world will represent their country and celebrate great achievements at the fantastic Rådhusplassen in Oslo in a football tournament that changes lives and challenges perceptions of homelessness, he adds.
